Traditional America First voters like to make a whole production out of Election Day.
They like dressing in red, white, and blue. They display their "I Voted!" stickers to their neighbors. They sit around the TV, listening to election results.
It may as well be a holiday.
Then, there are pundits who hypothesize that all votes made ahead of time are thrown out, hidden, shredded, or otherwise taken out of the counting mix.
Don't even try it this year.
You have to do your state’s early voting and mail-in voting.
Don’t faint, get over it.
Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
You must — as the professionals say — bank your vote.
Get it in and done.
Anything can happen in a flash!
Years ago, I was trying to roast a chicken before work and my old gas stove exploded in my face. I ended up in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Francis Scott Key Burn Unit of John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Last year, my car I was rear-ended, and subsequently totaled. I was severely injured.
A few weeks ago, I had a perfect storm of medical emergencies land me in the ICU for days. Even today, I would like a lady's maid to help me out.
Yes, I’d go bank my vote, but I can’t promise I wouldn’t just wear my bathrobe.
To be brutally frank, I don’t think we have the ground game that the Democrats do.
Seemingly, 2020 taught us nothing.
Besides God-sent Scott Presler in Pennsylvania, who’s his equivalent in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, Nevada?
Anyone who gave up his life for more than a year to register and reach out to independents, disaffected, non-voters, people sick of the Democratic Party?
No one, that's who.
There aren’t going to be extra, spare, hidden voters in these swing-states.
By "swing states," I mean the states that will decide Election '24.
Guess what?
Stupid memes, forgotten 1980’s bands, fake football titles: they don’t mean anything.
"The Man Living in a Van Down by the River," and cackling Charlie McCarthy still can win.
Let that be some cold water in our faces!
Don’t let polls control your actions.
In, at least my political science classes, we were taught how to get any result we wanted.
There’s an art to it, and the polling companies have become expert. There are "weights" and "adjustments," regarding how things are asked and how things are said, when it comes to polls.
The order in which questions are asked do make a difference, too.
So, what are we left with? You.
Please return that mail-in ballot or get in line for your state’s early voting.
Here are the ins and outs of everything; you don’t even have to look it up.
Your simple action of being willing to do things in a new way will probably make the difference for our nation.
This is in no way maudlin, let's never forget that no one is promised tomorrow.
Yes, we certainly still have a chance to protect tomorrow.
How?
By banking our votes as our states permit. Be a true patriot. Vote now.
