This year, the MAGA contingent of this country — which numerically and electorally turned out to be most Americans — is a critical element of an unprecedented mandate.
President Trump, along with supportive legislators and constituents, is tasked with making quick, major overhauls to how the government fulfills its mission. It occurs to me that the work required is akin to Excalibur, the sword of the Arthurian legends.
The legendary sword was said to be magical. It was firmly lodged in stone and could only be pulled out by "the true king." Arthur was able to dislodge the sword and lent it to trusted followers, including an Irish warrior and the Earl of Cornwall, to complete his missions. The sword has magic powers, but great effort must be exerted to invoke them.
As War Room star and presidential adviser Steve Bannon says, "President Trump can't do it alone." It's in this context that thousands of people from around the world attended the recent CPAC convention at Maryland's National Harbor, including me.
I was there the penultimate day, Saturday.
There seemed to be a range of how much people speaking were on the MAGA train, how much they were actually willing to pull out their own Excalibur and actively, exclusively, work towards the populist nationalist agenda.
This is something we — including President Trump — should keep in mind when making important decisions.
Rep. Harriet Hageman of Wyoming came out swinging with her specific focus on the MAGA agenda. With Wyoming being an outdoors and energy-centric state, she's well able to evaluate the woke devolution of California and its fire destruction.
Hageman pointed out the "what": "Politicians pushing the woke agenda results in real suffering." She also had a call to action for all to use: "We must call out the entire DEI industry."
Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders seems to be aligned with MAGA policies, though she was late in her endorsement of President Trump and had been rumored to have sought to be on Ron DeSantis' ticket. Commenting on governor of Maine Janet Mills' defiance of President Trump, "Trump calls out people when he thinks they're on the wrong side."
Her call to action for all of us, activating agency: "Never back down, never stop fighting, never stop doing what is right."
The President's "Border Czar," Tom Homan, practically ricocheted across the room. He's that passionate about the fundamental MAGA goal of regaining our sovereignty.
"Every day I wake up, I look forward to working!"
He noted that the day before, there were only 48 "gotaways" who got into the U.S. "I won't be happy until that number is zero."
As to the sanctuary major city of Boston, "I'm coming to Boston and I'm bringing Hell with me!"
Then, it was time for the man everyone was looking forward to, President Trump. Even sitting in back with the rest of the press, I could still see his torso.
It was like being at a private rally! Maybe it wasn't like seeing him at a table at Mar A Lago, but I've not been invited yet.
He had some speaking points I had never heard.
As to Leftists: "We took away their power, we took away their confidence." Thought provoking!
Also, I hadn't realized that a full 85% of counties voted for him and all 50 states shifted more towards GOP. That's blue and red.
President Trump really seems to take any of our country's failures personally. His heart's invested.
When he was out of office and saw the caravans of illegal aliens rushing across our border, he growled, "I couldn't stand it!" He is already taking that Excalibur level of power and using it full blast to the good.
