Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has announced he is reaching out to the Musée Grévin in Paris after it unveiled a botched wax figure of the A-list Hollywood star amid public outrage.
At issue with many is the skin tone of the figure, which is complete with a suburban dad type of outfit. As one fan wondered on social media, "Who is this because uhhhh. … You do know he’s Samoan and Black right," according to Today.
"Why would you white wax (wash) him?" another added, the outlet reported.
Comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. also roasted the wax figure.
"You know Black a** Samoan The Rock? That’s how Paris thinks he looks," Jefferson Jr. said in a video re-shared to Johnson's Instagram. "They turned The Rock into a pebble! … it looks like The Rock has never seen the sun a day in his life … You make the rock look like he's David Beckham. It looks like The Rock is going to be a part of the royal family. Did y’all even Google him?"
Captioning the video, Johnson explained to followers that he would reach out to the museum with a request for changes to the figure.
"Knew my boy James Andre Jefferson Jr. had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs," Johnson wrote. "For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements — starting with my skin color. And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself."
Although Johnson is participating in the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, he is preparing to launch his Christmas film "Red One" with Amazon/MGM later this year, Variety reported. In the holiday action blockbuster, he shares the screen with Chris Evans and also serves as a producer.
