Reese Witherspoon has cast her vote for the Sexiest Man Alive, and her pick has raised eyebrows.
Speaking with People, the actor shared that Will Ferrell deserved the outlet's official title for 2025. Witherspoon made the remarks while chatting with Ferrell, who she stars alongside in "You're Cordially Invited."
"I mean, I missed out last year," Ferrell, 57, said, as People asked Witherspoon about her co-star potentially campaigning for the annual honor.
Asked why Ferrell would be a great Sexiest Man Alive cover star, Witherspoon, 48, replied, "'Cause I mean, who else would it be? I can't think of anybody."
Ferrell said that last year, the idea of him holding the title "was kind of floated out there."
"People were slightly indoctrinated to it," the actor continued. "Now let's go, People, pull the trigger."
"Hard launch," agreed Witherspoon.
The conversation came hours after Ferrell said on Tuesday during an appearance on "Today" that he was disappointed at not being named Sexiest Man Alive last year. Co-host Savannah Guthrie recalled during a previous conversation that Ferrell had wanted to appear on People's annual issue with the feature.
"Yes, [my campaign] started here," the actor and comedian said. "And maybe this was the wrong place to start it. I got zero votes."
Guthrie, he added, was indignant on his behalf.
"That can't be!" she said. "I didn't have a vote, but I would vote for you."
Last year, Ferrell made headlines when he appeared dressed up as a scruffy version of Buddy the Elf, complete with a cigarette in his mouth and beer in his hand, at the Los Angeles Kings' home game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 29.
Ferrell told FanDuel Sports Network broadcaster Carrlyn Bathe during the live broadcast that it was "a tough holiday season," and "he's looking for a Kings win." He elaborated on his remarks during an appearance on an episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's "New Heights" podcast.
"Buddy the Elf got laid off, I think, from the North Pole," Ferrell joked on the podcast. "He's having a pull from his beer, smoking a cig. That was just … I get these weird ideas every now and then."
