Actor Katie Holmes dismissed a report that her 18-year-old daughter Suri Cruise is now a millionaire after a trust fund from her estranged father Tom Cruise kicked in.
The Daily Mail recently cited a source saying Suri Cruise gained access to the alleged trust fund on her 18th birthday on April 18. The report also said she has an additional trust fund from her mother. Holmes disputed the report.
"Completely false. Daily Mail you can stop making stuff up," she wrote on Instagram over a screenshot of the article.
"Enough," she added in the caption.
Holmes has tried to protect Suri Cruise from negative media coverage. Speaking with Glamour last April, the "Dawson's Creek" alum said her daughter has been in the spotlight from a young age, and she tries to protect her.
"What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her," Holmes told Glamour at the time, according to People. "I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."
Holmes and then-husband Tom Cruise welcomed Suri in 2006. They split in 2012 after nearly six years of marriage.
Holmes made her directorial debut last year with "Rare Objects," a film in which she also starred. She dedicated the project to Suri Cruise, who was also featured in the soundtrack, just as she had done for Holmes' previous film, "Alone Together." The movie's end credits include a dedication to Suri Cruise.
In her interview with Glamour, Holmes said she hopes her daughter "always does something on my films," adding, "I always ask her."
"But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people," she said at the time. "And it's this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly."
Homes added that it was "very meaningful to me to have her [Suri] there, because she's my heart."
