Lindsay Lohan has taken issue with a joke in the new "Mean Girls" movie musical which is an apparent reference to her.
The actor memorably played Cady Heron in the original 2004 film. She turns up in one scene for a surprise cameo in the remake and even joined former co-star Tina Fey at the New York City red carpet premiere to support the new film last week.
But according to a rep for the star, Lohan was unhappy with a line of dialogue in the new "Mean Girls" movie mentioning "fire crotch," which is what Brandon Davis referred to her as in a 2006 paparazzi video.
"Lindsay was very hurt and disappointed by the reference in the film," her rep told People.
In the film, Megan Thee Stallion, who has a song on the soundtrack, appears in social media montages and at one point comments on Cady's Christmas-themed talent show outfit, saying, "Y2K fire crotch is back," People reported, noting that the role of Cady is portrayed by Angourie Rice in the new film.
Fey, 53, meanwhile returns as Ms. Norbury while also taking on the roles of screenwriter and producer. She recently spoke about orchestrating Lohan's cameo in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"Paramount was like, 'Can you get any of the original ladies?' And I was like, 'I can't fit five people in.' I felt like if I could only get one person as a surprise, the original movie is really Lindsay's movie. As great as they all are, she's the heart of that movie," said Fey.
"And I thought, Well, what could she do?" she continued.
"I didn't think [she should] play a teacher. I was trying to think of something that you wouldn't expect," she continued. "And just to have her do that late in the movie, it also feels like it comes, I hope, at a time where fans weren't expecting one more little surprise. It also lets her be smart, which Cady is."
