Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song have become parents. The couple welcomed their first child, Dakota Song Culkin, on Monday, April 5, in Los Angeles, Culkin's rep Michelle Bega confirmed to USA Today on Monday.
"We are overjoyed," the pair said in a statement on the birth of Dakota, who was named after Culkin's sister, who died in 2008.
"Mother, father and baby are all healthy and happy," Bega added.
Culkin and Song met on the set of "Changeland" and were first linked in 2017 after they were spotted together at an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. They have kept their relationship private on social media, but in a rare and heartfelt Instagram post in August, Song wished Culkin happy birthday.
"Happy 40th birthday to this magical being. I could sit here and write endlessly about how wonderful, kind, loving, genuine, loyal, honest, brilliant and hilarious you are, and how grateful I am that I get to share and do this life thing with you," she wrote. "But firstly, that would take me an eternity and secondly, you won’t even see this because you don’t ever use instagram. Hahaha. My unicorn that I never thought could exist, I am luckiest person in the world because I am loved by you."
It appears the couple has been planning a family for quite some time. During a 2018 appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast, Culkin said he was hoping to have a baby with Song.
"This one's a good one, so I'm probably going to put some babies in her in a little bit," Culkin said, according to People. "I mean, we've definitely been practicing."
Culkin added that he and Song had "a good life."
"I have a pretty little family — a pretty girl, a pretty dog, a pretty cat, and all that stuff. We're gonna move," he noted. "We're doing the house thing and all that kind of stuff."
In February last year, Culkin also spoke about starting a family with Song during an interview with Esquire.
"We practice a lot," Culkin said. "We're figuring it out, making the timing work."
Song also spoke in the interview about Culkin, who she was full of praise for.
"People don’t realize how incredibly kind and loyal and sweet and smart he is," she said. "Truly what makes Mack so special is that he is so unapologetically Mack. He knows who he is, and he’s 100 percent okay with that. And that to me is an incredibly sexy quality. He’s worked really hard to be the person he is."
