Michael Jackson's daughter has opened up about the "many times" she tried to kill herself while battling unbearable depression. Paris Jackson made the shocking revelation this week on an episode of her Facebook Watch series, "Unfiltered: Paris Jackson and Gabriel Glenn."

"Yes, I tried to kill myself many times," the 22-year-old model said, explaining that her suicidal thoughts were rooted in a poor body image that developed after she gained weight and became addicted to food following the death of her father in 2009.

"And then a cousin called me fat so I was like, 'OK, I can't do that anymore'. And that's how I fell into self-harm," she was cited saying by The Sun.

Paris described how she would "cut and burn" herself but did not harbor and suicidal notions at the time.

"I never thought that I would die from it because I was always in control of the razor and I knew how deep I was going," she said.

"It was a distraction from emotional pain and transferring to physical pain and the need for control."

In 2013, Paris attempted her first suicide. After that, she was sent to a Utah boarding school. Paris spent her sophomore year and half of her junior year of high school there and she "learned a lot" about herself during that time, but she left with "way more problems" than she had when she arrived.

"My depression comes in waves," Paris explained. After spending years on medication, she decided it was in her best interest to ditch the pills.

"I used to be on anti-depressants and mood stabilizers, but it kind of clouded my third eye and I couldn't laugh as deeply," she revealed.

"So even though the lows are unbearably low, I would still rather that than nothing," Paris continued, adding that, "Pain is way better than just [being] numb because at least you're feeling something."
