Let there be no mistake, Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., is running for president of the United States.
Perhaps not for 2024, but certainly for 2028.
As he does, the country is increasingly aware of the massive problems facing California.
We should know just how willing Gavin Newsom is to skew the truth, to not only the citizens of his state, but to the rest of the nation as well.
Within the structure of the Democratic Party, Newsom is doing all the right things, to become their nominee one day.
He has been taking on Republican leadership and GOP policies relentlessly.
Newsom loudly touts Democratic policies on abortion, green energy, and more.
He's also raising money for fellow Democrats.
He's even been traveling nationwide doing all of those things.
All in an effort to achieve his goals.
Never mind, that California is a mess. It has 30% of the Nation’s homeless.
Crime is rampant.
Its big cities are imploding. California is number one in poverty and often ranked 50th as a business environment. Among too many Democrats, those results don’t matter.
What matters is whether Newsom is fighting for their issues.
As Newsom fights, however, America must also learn that Newsom is willing to say nything to them to ascore points, to get ahead.
The world knows that Newsom shut down California early and hard during COVID-19. Businesses, schools, and churches were shuttered, as they were in other locales.
However, that did not stop Newsom from attending an exclusive dinner at one of the most exclusive restaurants in the country. Among other things, Newsom chose not to wear a mask. It also didn’t stop him from misrepresenting about whether he was following the rules generally during that dinner.
Newsom said he was following protocols until the pictures proved otherwise.
Over the last several years, California has also been beset by wildfires — more than any other state. Newsom, of course, blames that on climate change.
Conveniently, and curiously, he doesn’t blame the state’s fire prevention efforts — although he was willing to lie about just that.

The story itself reads much worse:
Of the wildfires, Newsom said, "confronting them would have to become a year-round effort."
However: an investigation from CapRadio and NPR’s California Newsroom found the governor has misrepresented his accomplishments and even disinvested in wildfire prevention.
The investigation found Newsom overstated, by an astounding 690%, the number of acres treated with fuel breaks and prescribed burns in the very forestry projects he said needed to be prioritized to protect the state’s most vulnerable communities.
Newsom has claimed that 35 "priority projects" carried out as a result of his executive order resulted in fire prevention work on 90,000 acres.
But the state’s own data show the actual number is 11,399.
Additonally, it may well be argued that solme of Newsom's actions are hypocritical.
He backs state travel bans against states that don’t comply with California standards of social justice.
That doesn’t stop Newsom, however, from vacationing in such states like Montana.
Newsom’s hypocrisy and playing fast and loose with the facts are not things of the past.
Currently, Newsom is telling unsuspected voters that he is for democracy and against authoritarians. He created his "Campaign for Democracy" to market his efforts.
As senior California journalist Dan Walters noted, however, "Newsom denounces 'authoritarians,' but what about his record?"
This is a more than fair question, and so is this by Walters, "Was Newsom being an authoritarian when he declared an emergency during the COVID-19 pandemic, suspended dozens of laws, closed public schools and ordered much of the state’s economy to be shut down, erasing nearly 3 million jobs overnight and pushing the state into a severe recession?"
Walters also notes Newsom abrogated state law by ending capital executions and Newsom has banned by his decrees the sale of gas cars in 2035.
Finally, there is Newsom lying about book bans.
In plain terms, Newsom says Republicans are banning books.
That has an ominous ring, doesn’t it?
It does until you know the truth.
The Republicans support policies that authorize age-appropriate sexual materials for young students. In Newsom’s world, and many others on the left, unless children are given unlimited access to illicit material, that is book banning.
Such hoodwinking and shaming has become a common tactic of the left.
They announce a new social order and then they demand the rest of the country immediately adhere to their new standard.
If you don’t, they brand you as intolerant or worse.
Recall that Obama and Biden campaigned against gay marriage.
After getting elected by telling people one view, they reversed course and demanded everyone agree to gay marriage — overnight.
If you didn’t, you were intolerant or worse.
Apparently, Newsom has learned their lesson well. The only question is whether the country has learned its lesson and avoids fourflushers like Gavin Newsom.
