The detained suspect in the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is Luigi Mangione, 26, a police source told Newsmax on Monday.
A LinkedIn profile of a man by that name says Mangione is a data engineer for TrueCar, but this is unverified information not confirmed by police.
Amid rapidly emerging details, the police have changed the designation from "person of interest" to "suspect."
Mangione was valedictorian at Baltimore private school, according to area reports.
An NYPD police source confirmed earlier to Newsmax that Altoona, Pennsylvania, police on Monday took him in for questioning after being located at a McDonald's by local citizen, who informed police of him as being suspicious.
The man was found sitting in the restaurant. He was found to have a gun similar to the type believed to be used in the murder of Thompson.
The man was found to have had fake IDs on him, sources told Newsmax, and various reports say the silencer and multiple fake IDs were all found.
A New York police source says he appears to be the suspect, noting strong similarity to eyebrows of the man captured in surveillance video.
Also, the man was found with a manifesto that criticized healthcare companies for putting profits above care, The New York Times reported Monday, citing a senior law enforcement official.
One of the cards reportedly matched the name used by the suspected gunman to check into a hostel in Manhattan before the shooting.
