Bethune-Cookman University reportedly canceled classes Thursday and put the entire campus on lockdown due to a "potential threat to campus safety."
"All classes have been canceled; students should return to their dorm rooms and shelter in place. All faculty and staff should head home and those not on campus should plan to work remotely," the university wrote in a Facebook post, Fox 35 reported.
Bethune–Cookman is a private Historically Black University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Several HBCUs across the U.S. received threats on Thursday, WESH reported.
The lockdown occurred a day after Charlie Kirk, co-founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, the largest and most influential conservative youth organization in the U.S., was killed during an event in Utah.
