Erika Kirk said she prayed she was pregnant at the time her late husband, conservative leader Charlie Kirk, was assassinated in September.
Erika Kirk, who succeeded her husband as Turning Point USA CEO, made the revelation in an interview with Megyn Kelly that aired Monday.
"We wanted to have four," she told "The Megyn Kelly Show." "And I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered."
She added, "I was like, 'Oh, goodness, that was going to be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.'"
The Kirks have two young children. Erika Kirk said she and Charlie were planning to add to their family when he was assassinated on Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University.
"So now, when I see young couples, I tell them, 'Please, don't put it off,'" she told Kelly.
"Especially if you're a young woman. Don't put it off, you can always have a career, you can always, you know, go back to work.
"You can never just go back to having children. And they grow so fast and so quickly."
"I just, I was praying. Both of us were," she added.
The two were married in May 2021.
Charlie Kirk's life was cut short by a gunman's bullet during a TPUSA event. Utah prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder in the slaying.
They plan to seek the death penalty.
A memorial service for Charlie Kirk on Sept. 21 at Arizona's State Farm Stadium drew an estimated 90,000 supporters, blending conservative activism with a Christian revival atmosphere.
President Donald Trump praised Charlie Kirk as a "martyr for freedom" and a defining voice of the movement. Weeks later, on Oct. 14, Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom on what would have been his 32nd birthday.
