In a letter to colleagues, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said the Democrat caucus is pushing back "against the far-right extremism that is being relentlessly unleashed on the American people."
Jeffries laid out 10 action items House Democrats are doing, including introducing legislation to prevent unlawful access to the Treasury Department's Bureau of the Fiscal Service payment system and highlighting Republican policies that they believe raise the cost of living for the American people.
Democrats on the House Judiciary and Oversight Committee are preparing litigation over several executive orders, including ending birthright citizenship, the firing of inspectors general, terminations of federal civil service employees, the purge of the FBI and the suspension of funds appropriated by Congress.
"There are currently more than 20 different lawsuits challenging at least 11 executive orders," Jeffries said.
The party’s Immigration Working Group is also continuing with its efforts to secure the border and fix the country’s broken immigration system, he said.
"We urge all members to once again conduct district-wide outreach in order to connect directly with our constituents and discuss the challenges we are decisively addressing on their behalf," Jeffries said.
Last week, the White House demanded Jeffries apologize after he said his supporters plan to "fight" President Donald Trump's agenda "in the streets."
That mention same when Jeffries said, "We're going to keep focused on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaires, donors, and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working-class Americans across the country with the bill. That's not acceptable.
"We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. And we're going to fight it in the streets."
"Will Minority Leader Jeffries apologize for this disgusting threat? Or will he double down on the same calls for violence that have plagued the country for years?" the White House X account posted.
