JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank have provided the House Oversight Committee with new materials as part of its probe into the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The files have not yet been publicly released, although Democrats on the committee say they expect to release them in the coming days after a review, Politico said in its report Wednesday.
A spokesperson for the panel's Republican majority confirmed the receipt of the information to Politico.
The committee also received materials from the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Epstein owned his private compound.
The disclosure comes after President Donald Trump signed into law a bill requiring the Justice Department to release the Epstein-related documents in its possession. The release of those files is highly anticipated and could come in a matter of days.
A Democrat committee aide told CNN that the photos and videos released by the committee on Wednesday have never been made public before. The aide added that there are several redactions in the images of the phone and the blackboard at the Epstein compound, explaining that any women's names were redacted out of an abundance of caution.
Rep. Robert Garcia, a California Democrat and ranking member of the Oversight Committee, released a statement that "these new images are a disturbing look into the world of Jeffrey Epstein and his island. We are releasing these photos and videos to ensure public transparency in our investigation and to help piece together the full picture of Epstein's horrific crimes. We won't stop fighting until we deliver justice for the survivors."
Meanwhile, a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers asked Wednesday for a meeting with Justice Department personnel no later than Friday to ascertain what information is in its possession and is subject to release, according to Politico.
