Parents Groups Urge Senate to Approve Trump's Education Nom

While many Democrats are strongly protesting President Donald Trump's desire to reform education, parent advocacy groups reportedly are urging the Senate to swiftly confirm Secretary of Education nominee Linda McMahon.

The American Principles Project (APP) endorsed McMahon in a letter Tuesday to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Chair Bill Cassidy, R-La., saying that its collective organizations "believe the Department desperately needs a complete overhaul after years of incompetence, hyper-partisanship, and a purposeful anti-Christian agenda," the Daily Caller News Foundation reported.

"We are confident that once confirmed to the position, [McMahon] will end the Department's weaponization toward certain colleges, promote education choice, and bring back common sense," the group said in the letter.

"Linda McMahon has never backed down from a challenge, and we know she will fight for all of America's students."

The letter was signed by Moms for Liberty, Claremont Institute, Family Research Council, and Eagle Forum.

The groups agreed that McMahon's "experience will serve her well at the Department of Education, which has gone off the rails under the Democrats' rule."

"The Biden-Harris administration has used the Department of Education not to educate America's children — who are steadily falling behind — but instead to push their radical cultural agenda on America's kids and to punish anyone who dares stand in their way," the letter said.

"Kids today are taught to hate their country, divide themselves by race, and embrace a pervasive gender ideology."

APP reported that last year, it found that Christian institutions and career colleges made up nearly 70% of penalties imposed by the Office of Enforcement despite these schools representing less than 10% of college students, DCNF reported.

It was reported Tuesday that Trump is preparing to gut the U.S. Education Department to the full extent of his power, directing his administration to slash spending while pressuring employees to quit.

Trump campaigned on a pledge to close the department, saying it has been infiltrated by "radicals, zealots, and Marxists." However, most of the department's spending — and its very existence — is ordered by Congress.
