Netanyahu: Israel Must Control Philadelphi Corridor

Monday, 02 September 2024 02:29 PM EDT

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israeli troops will remain in the Philadelphi corridor on the southern edge of the Gaza Strip, one of the main sticking points in reaching a deal to end the fighting in Gaza and return hostages.

"The axis of evil needs the Philadelphi corridor, and for that reason we must control the Philadelphi corridor," he said at a news conference in Jerusalem.
