IDF Hits Hezbollah Targets, Builds Border Wall

By    |   Thursday, 13 November 2025 08:55 AM EST

The Israel Defense Forces carried out two separate strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Thursday morning, as the terror group continues to try to rebuild its capacities in contravention of the ceasefire terms.

Meanwhile, the IDF has also begun construction of new bulwarks on the border to prevent future attacks from Hezbollah, despite Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun claiming that the terror group had ceased its activities south of the Litani River.

On Thursday morning, the Israeli military said it first struck "a weapons storage facility and an underground terror infrastructure site," which were "located near the civilian population, serving as yet another example of Hezbollah's cynical use of Lebanese civilians as human shields."

An additional Israeli strike hit another terror infrastructure site shortly after. "The Hezbollah terrorist organization continues its attempts to reestablish terror assets throughout Lebanon. The presence of these terror infrastructure sites and Hezbollah's activity in the area constitutes a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon," the military said.

In recent weeks, several reports indicated that Israel is increasingly concerned over the rapid pace of rearmament by the terror group and has accordingly increased its airstrikes against it.

In addition, the IDF confirmed to the Jewish News Agency on Wednesday that it is building a new barrier, denying allegations by Hezbollah-affiliated media that the new wall is being built behind the Blue Line, on the Lebanese side of the border.

"Contrary to Lebanese reports, the barrier in question is located within Israeli territory and does not cross into Lebanese territory," the IDF said.

Other Arab reports said that some sections of the wall are behind the U.N.-demarcated Blue Line, particularly near the towns of Maroun al-Ras, Ayta al-Sha'ab and near the Israeli town of Avivim.

The border between Israel and Lebanon has never been properly demarcated and agreed upon. Therefore, the U.N.'s Blue Line, originally the internationally recognized withdrawal line, is considered the border.

Aoun claimed on Wednesday that his military is "performing its duties to the fullest" and continues to disarm Hezbollah. However, reports indicate that the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) are concentrating on raiding unguarded arms caches, mainly in southern Lebanon instead of proactively confiscating Hezbollah's strategic weapons stores in its strongholds in Beirut and the Bekaa Valley.

He also claimed that Hezbollah is, as of now, "not operating in the South Litani area."

Aoun's government has committed to disarming the powerful terror group, but in recent months, has blamed Israel for escalating tensions and is now demanding Israel's full withdrawal before disarmament can be completed.

Hezbollah, meanwhile, has ostensibly accepted disarmament in southern Lebanon but flatly rejected laying down its arms in general, even threatening a new civil war.

Aoun said he has told Hezbollah that "The approach of force is no longer of use and we must go to the force of logic. After 15 years of war in Vietnam, the United States was obliged to go to negotiations, and Hamas has also been obliged to go to negotiations."

Defending himself after criticism over his calls for negotiations with Israel, Aoun explained, "If we lack the ability to go to war, war has led us into tragedies, and there is a wave of settlements in the region, what can we do?"

However, he blamed Israel for not sending an answer to the latest Lebanese proposal. "When we get an approval, we would talk about our conditions. The essential point that I'm raising remains: are we capable of entering a war and can the rhetoric of war solve the problem?"
