Pope Francis' body could be moved to St. Peter's Basilica, allowing the faithful to pay their respects, as early as Wednesday, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a statement on Monday.

A group of cardinals meeting on Tuesday were expected to take a formal decision on the issue, he added.
