The Delta Rhythm Boys sang "Hip bone connected to the thigh bone, thigh bone connected to the knee bone," and on and on.

We can, unfortunately, make the same kind of connection between obesity and cancer.

Obesity now affects more than 100 million adults and almost 15 million kids in this country, and is connected to adenocarcinoma of the esophagus, meningioma, multiple myeloma, and breast, colon, rectal, uterine, gallbladder, upper stomach, liver, ovarian, pancreatic, and thyroid cancers.

No wonder cancer deaths related to obesity have tripled in the past 20 years.

If you're contending with excess weight, you want to act quickly to reclaim your healthy future. And you can do that by upgrading your nutrition.

A new study in the journal PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) found that you can't outrun obesity — it's much more a product of the food you eat than the exercise you don't get.

The researchers tracked the energy expenditure of people around the globe, in both developed and undeveloped societies, and found that it was their diet — not their level of physical activity — that was the cause of obesity, with ultra-processed foods being a major culprit.

Take a look at "What to Eat When," "The What to Eat When Cookbook," and "The Great Age Reboot," all of which can help you avoid or overcome obesity.

And when you're connected to our posse and have a purpose, you'll be able to see results from simple how-tos backed by good science and a lot of compassion.
