Let’s begin by stating this column is not the headquarters of the Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., Fan Club.

We would prefer to be fans of all Republican governors.

But at a time when the one Red State governor fighting for his constituents on all fronts — regulatory, cultural, financial, legal and medical — and doing so in a proactive manner is DeSantis, then he’s going to get more coverage here.

If for no other reason to inspire apathetic, passive and fearful Red State governors to get off the dime and start doing their jobs. Accountability . . . Anyone?

This week Gov. DeSantis strikes a blow for vaccine accountability.

The COVID vaccines are the most dangerous substance Americans have ever been ordered to inject into their bodies.

The disabling and often deadly side effects from these vaccines outnumber all the total side effects from every other U.S. vaccine since record keeping began.

Let's review:

  • Vaccines were marketed in a false and deceptive fashion
  • Vaccines did not prevent the vaccinated from getting COVID
  • Vaccines did not prevent the vaxxed from transmitting COVID
  • Vaccines did not prevent being hospitalized with COVID
  • Vaccines did not prevent deaths from COVID

And — the side effects were hidden from the American public.

There has been a rightful demand from Republican voters for stepping up to the plate; yet too many Republican governors wait passively for the federal government to do something.

That will never happen.

Many, if not all, Red States have laws against false advertising involving drugs and medical procedures. These laws could be used to demand accountability from vaccine manufacturers and public health officials.

Instead, the law gathers dust while vaccine manufacturers gather billions.

Ron DeSantis changed that this week and that’s why he's highlighted in this column.

The Washington Times reports the governor is beginning an investigation.

The first step on the road to pharma being made to answer pointed questions on vaccines:

"Today I'm announcing a petition with the Supreme Court of Florida to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida with respect to COVID-19 vaccines," said DeSantis.

"In Florida, it is against the law to mislead and misrepresent the efficacy of a drug."

The governor expects the court to approve the grand jury probe.

DeSantis also intends to wade into the side effects blackout.

"The grand jury also would examine vaccine side effects such as myocarditis and blood clots, which have been difficult to track because of a lack of data released by Pfizer and Moderna."

As DeSantis succinctly put it, "Maybe we'll be able to get the data whether they want to give it or not."

Mr. DeSantis did not discuss whether Florida would be seeking monetary damages from the vaccine manufacturers at this time, but "he noted that Florida in recent years won $3.2 billion from the manufacturers and distributors of opioids."

Transparency under oath, with the prospect of a perjury charge for lying, will get the attention of the vaccine manufacturers.

It’s time for Red States to go on a full court press against the lies and deception of the COVID conspirators.

Ron DeSantis is showing the way.

Any other course is a betrayal of their state by passive, do-nothing governors.

President Harry S. Truman had a sign on his desk, "The Buck Stops Here" to indicate that he had the final say in defending the U.S.

That fact also applies to Red State governors who need to start doing the leading they all promised to do when they ran for the office.
