Hats off to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem for attacking sanctuary city and state policies following the shooting of an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer in New York.
In your wildest imagination, you couldn't dream of a scenario in which Democratic politicians would sink so low as to oppose law enforcement in favor of violent criminals.
Sadly, that agenda-driven dream has become reality.
As if it were not enough of a disgrace and embarrassment for Democratic leaders to villainize and demonize Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agents as recently pointed out in this space, many have gone even further and become indirect allies of illegal alien criminals.
DHS has stated that there has been an 830 percent increase in assaults on ICE officers in the past year.
These statistics obviously mean nothing to Democratic Sens. Alex Padilla of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey.
They introduced legislation to prohibit ICE agents from wearing masks to conceal their identities while engaged in immigration enforcement activities.
Disgracefully, the legislation was co-sponsored by a number of other Democratic senators, including:
- Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.
- Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill.
- Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii
- Andy Kim, D-N.J.
- Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.
- Patty Murray, D-Wash.
- Adam Schiff, D-Calif.
- Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich.
- Tina Smith, D-Minn.
- Gary Peters, D-Mich.
- Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.
- Peter Welch, D-Vt., and . . .
- Ron Wyden, D-Ore.
To the best of this writer's knowledge, none of these anti-ICE Democrats criticized recent violent attacks on ICE agents and other law enforcement officers including the shooting of the Border Patrol officer shot in New York as referenced above.
At the ICE Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas on Independence Day, anti-ICE rioters shot one local police officer in his neck.
Thankfully, as of the time of this writing, he is expected to make a full recovery.
In McAllen, Texas, a man armed with an assault rifle fired dozens of rounds at federal agents at a U.S. Border Patrol facility and injured a police officer before being shot and killed.
These Democratic senators and their anti-ICE partners have allies who share their shameful ghoulish desire to expose ICE agents and put them and their families in danger.
Two Portland groups, identified as "Rose City Counter Info" and "The Cristian Daily," are publishing the names, photos and addresses of ICE officers on their website and social media platforms.
That's no different and has the same dangerous impact as the legislation by the above Democrats and others to expose ICE identities.
The results of their actions are the same — expose ICE agents and their families to life-threatening attacks which no doubt would please many in the anti-ICE community.
A vivid example is U.S. Rep. Salud Carbajal, D-Calif.
He was not only among the mob attacking immigration agents serving a warrant at a federal immigration facility in Carpinteria, California.
He shamefully doxed an ICE employee and made him a target by giving the employee’s business card to the mob which attacked him resulting in his going to the hospital.
Will there be any retribution by his House colleagues for his despicable act endangering the life of this ICE employee?
Will any of his Democratic congressional colleagues condemn his disgraceful conduct?
Don’t hold your breath!
Let’s stop pretending and face the facts: these anti-ICE violent protesters who shoot at ICE facilities and agents are nothing more than para-miliary "shock troops" of the Democratic Party!
It is time for national law enforcement groups such as the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA), the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), and the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) —and similar groups and local affiliates in the states and cities of the above Democrats — to follow Secretary Noem's lead.
They need to have combined and individual press conferences condemning the anti-law enforcement position of these and other Democrats who attack ICE and law enforcement; and, seek to protect violent criminal illegal aliens many of whom have been previously arrested and convicted of rape, child molestation and kidnapping.
They must fight back.
Even after ICE and Border Patrol officers rescued migrant children from what is believed to be exploitation, forced child labor, and potential human trafficking and smuggling operations at a California marijuana farm, Democrats — who pretend to be children advocates--were mostly silent.
The same silence from Democrats when the Trump administration reported that it has located over 13,000 children lost during the Biden administration which turned the other cheek on child sex trafficking at its porous Southern border.
It's time for ICE and its fellow law enforcement agencies to "take the gloves off," as Secretary Noem did, and directly challenge those Democrats — in their home states — who want to reveal the identities of ICE agents.
