Why I Left the Democratic Party

Since 1972, I have been a Democrat.

My first voting experience was for the progressive George McGovern, who lost handily to Richard Nixon.

My political heroes were FDR and JFK, who inspired me: Roosevelt for his concern for the average voter, and Kennedy for his youthful charisma that attracted many to him and the party he had chosen. Both figures with flaws captured my political choice, but recently, this has changed and led to my decision to move away from the party that brought me to dance.

The last straw was how they dealt with their political opponent, Donald Trump, by using the legal system to destroy his personal and political brand.

The double standard where Democrats and Republicans had different criteria for guilt was appalling to the fair-minded American. The recent government documents case brought about by Mr. Jack Smith, dismissed by District Judge Aileen Cannon, is just one example.

President Biden's document case, which ended with Special Counsel Mr. Robert K. Hur's decision not to proceed with the case because he was too old to be indicted, is proof positive of the double standard utilized by the powers to keep opponents of the current ruling class under their control.

This attack on one's ability to speak their respected mind is the best case for my decision to leave the Democrats.

Other reasons for my exit from the party revolve around policies that affect the working-class constituents that the Demoractics have all but forgotten.

The most egregious is the inexperienced decision by the Biden administration to decrease oil production, that not only increased the price of oil for many Americans but added to inflation and the strengthening of Russia and Iran, along with other rogue oil-producing nations that have benefited from this flawed policy. This was implemented to appease Biden's left flank, alienating the many Democrats once represented.

This misinformed energy resolution, often referred to as the "Green New Deal," is short-sighted and will only hurt working Americans. With their alarmist bias, the people of the earth only have a few years to get this "right," which means that energy reliance on fossil fuels must be eliminated immediately to avoid the planet's destruction.

This is sheer poppycock and, unfortunately, cannot be discussed with skepticism for fear of being labeled a denier; so much for the rules of scientific discourse, including a healthy amount of doubt.

Another Democratic defective course of action is their feeble foreign approach to confronting global evil-doers. Whether it be Russia, China, Iran or North Korea, the Democrats' feckless positions have caused a virtual chaotic world environment where the future is somewhat dubious for even the uncritical voter.

And the last issue, but certainly not the least, must be the border. This is where the newly arrived receive more benefits than those working poor who have had their needs replaced by this more activist philosophy, which mines potential new voters to acquire long-term brand market share.

Branding is all about satisfying customer needs. The Democratic brand has changed its attributes so that its appeal to its old constituency no longer applies.

Another rebrand for the Democrats in the next election cycle could re-capture those who have lost their belief in their working-class roots. And if they do this, they will realize that it is always easier when you have marketing and branding in mind.
