Why Voters Can't Believe a Thing Democrats Say

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s appearance on NBC News' "Meet The Press" (MTP) yesterday is a perfect example of why Democrats lost the White House and both chambers of Congress on Nov. 5.

Voters can’t believe a thing they say.

MTP host Kristen Welker played a clip of one of the many times the New York Democrat claimed to the public that President Joe Biden was in good mental health.

"I talk to President Biden regularly . . .  usually several times in a week. His mental acuity is great. It’s fine," Schumer said in the clip.

"All this right-wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong."

After playing the clip Welker asked, "What do you say to Americans who feel that you and other top Democrats misled them about President Biden’s mental acuity?"

Schumer claimed he and other Democrats didn’t mislead the public, and that Biden has an "amazing record," adding "when he stepped down, he did it on his own . . . We should all salute him."

However, shortly after Biden’s presidential debate with Donald Trump in late June, U.S. News reported that multiple top Democrats, including Schumer, were pressuring the president to step aside.

This was confirmed by multiple sources.

During the same MTP interview, Welker brought up the other elephant in the room — the Democrats’ phenomenal loss at the polls.

That loss can be attributed to Biden policies, including open borders, crippling inflation, and rising crime to mention a few.

But not according to Schumer.

He claimed that Democrats "did a lot of good things," but lost at the polls because "average working families didn't realize how much we had done and how much we cared for them."

So it was the voters’ fault. They just didn’t understand all that Democrats had "done for them."

In truth, the electorate understood what Democrats had done to them.

Everything this administration touched turned into a disaster, beginning with Biden’s horrific Afghanistan withdrawal.

The world has become a much more dangerous place under Biden, with hot wars in the Mideast and Eastern Europe.

Domestically, when prices at the pump shot through the roof, Biden attempted (without success) to ease them by releasing crude oil from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserves, which are for emergency purposes.

Bloomberg reported in September of 2022 that after Biden had depleted the reserves to dangerous levels, he was considering refilling them at just below $80 a barrel.

Two years earlier Trump wanted to do the same when oil was at $24 a barrel. The Democratic Congress blocked the move, calling it a bailout for Big Oil.

Also on the energy front, one of Biden’s parting gifts to Trump was to tightly restrict offshore drilling for oil and natural gas.

It was purportedly done to address "climate change."

But voters are waking up to the Democrats’ climate change nonsense.

Last September during Climate Week the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ran an online survey asking, "True or False: Humans are the dominant cause of climate change."

The EPA didn’t get the results they thought they would. Fewer than 10% of the 16,679 respondents answered "True," and the other 90.1% answered "False."

As a joke someone replied with a survey of his own, asking, "True or False: The EPA is the dominant cause of brain damage in this country."

Of those who responded, 93.6% agreed.

But it’s probably more accurate to say Democrats are "the dominant cause of brain damage in this country."

If Democrats, including Schumer, want to get back up to the plate, a good way to start is to be honest with their voters.

To be honest, Biden did not have an amazing record, and he was clearly in cognitive decline. Democrats did not do am amazing job, and voters were not hoodwinked by far-right Republicans.

And climate change is natural, and trading in your gas-guzzling SUV for a Tesla isn’t going to turn down the heat. In fact, most Americans from the Midwest to the East Coast are asking today if someone upstairs could turn the heat up.

Thomas Jefferson once observed that, "The whole art of government consists in the art of being honest."

Today’s Democrats have forgotten that art, and if Schumer is any indication, they’re not likely remember it any time soon.
