When I became an employee of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, more than 31 years ago, I was overjoyed. I was proud to have graduated from Quantico, becoming a newly appointed special agent — that was in 1995.
Sadly, over the years and decades, I have witnessed (first-hand) what amounts to the death of the FBI. My sadness now overshadows the treasured, fond memories of working good cases with fellow patriots, as most street agents were.
Now as I write this (and for quite some time) I can’t help but be embarrassed about my association with the agency. The bureau of today has morphed — and degenerated into — nothing more than a political cudgel to bludgeon opponents, deceive the American public, and win elections.
Jumping to the present day, when the FBI/Department of Justice (DOJ) executed the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago, the home of former President Trump and his family, it was a death-knell for any and all credibility barely remaining in both institutions.
It was one small step for liberals that fear Trump’s return and one giant leap for the banana republic America is very rapidly transforming itself into.
Liberals need to stop being blinded by the hatred of everything Trump and open their eyes to the destruction of our entire once-great democracy.
Let's think carefully about this, if the DOJ/FBI can force their way into the home of former commander in chief, on a technicality, then they can do whatever they want to every ordinary citizen.
Yes, that means to you and me.
We have watched these abuses play out globally in countries that employ their military and police powers to stifle and silence political opponents.
Ask yourself this, right now:
Do we want to live in a nation run like Russia, Venezuela, or perhaps Cuba?
Search warrants like the one executed yesterday will lead us down that path in a heartbeat.
We should all be scared to death.
The integrity the FBI was known for has not only passed, it has died.
Can we honestly think about a resuscitation of that integrity, sincerely believing it's possible?
The majority of our great country already lost most faith in the system of justice after the Russia debacle turned out to be corruption at the highest levels of the FBI and DOJ, one promulgated on false narratives, corruptly edited statements and equally corrupt political opposition research.
The latest revelations about Hunter Biden’s laptop exposing the former heads of intelligence who all signed a letter stating such info was nothing more than Russian disinformation were already a devastating blow to a justice system on rickety life support.
This latest abuse of power literally pulled the plug; now the FBI can officially be declared dead in the eyes of most Americans, with respect to the bureau’s so-called trustworthiness, or even its very reason for being.
This writer once carried his gold badge with unequivocal pride, knowing he was indeed part of something very special; an organization that sacrificed to make this country a better and safer place to live — for all.
To be certain, there are still some great, brave field agents, but the bureau, as a whole, is no more.
May it rest in peace.
