Joe Biden's presidential campaign spent Mother's Day contrasting his record on abortion with former President Donald Trump.
In a campaign ad, Biden said because of Trump, millions of women lost the freedom to control their own bodies.
"Women's lives are in danger because of that," Biden said in the ad. "If Donald Trump gets back in power, what freedom will you lose next? Your body and your decisions belong to you, not the government, not Donald Trump. I will fight like hell to get your freedom back."
In 2022, the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, the constitutional right to an abortion, with three justices Trump appointed to the court voting in favor.
On the Biden-Harris rapid response social media account, the campaign released another ad for Mother's Day, initially showing mothers with their children, before showing clips of Trump supporting family separation at the border, saying women should be punished for having an abortion, and taking credit for overturning Roe v. Wade.
In a blistering statement, Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung ripped the Biden campaign for the ad.
"What a sad, miserable, cowardly existence Crooked Joe Biden and his campaign must have to make such a disgusting ad on such a joyous day," Cheung said. "Their lives are obviously filled with anger, hate, and resentment because they clearly suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. President Trump continues to live rent free in their pea-sized brains, even on Mother's Day."
On his Truth Social account, Trump said he hoped all the "incredible" mothers had an incredible day.
"You are the most special people of them all!!!" Trump wrote.
