There is an NGO on our side called the American Border Story that advocates for closing the border. That battle is pretty much won, thanks to the Trump administration.
Fox News has the story on a congratulatory video released by TABS over the Thanksgiving holiday.
"The American Border Story (TABS) has released a powerful new video featuring Angel Families — those who have lost loved ones to crimes tied to the border crisis — expressing gratitude to President Trump for his tough stance on immigration enforcement."
Angel Families are citizens who have lost family members to illegal immigrants.
Your columnists have a great deal of sympathy for the Angel Families because, although we haven't lost a family member to illegal immigratns, one of our wife's best friends was killed by a drunk driving Mexican illegal.
Joe Abraham is one of the examples in the video.
"Joe Abraham, whose daughter Katie was killed in a drunken-driving accident caused by an illegal immigrant, thanked the president for prioritizing border security and "keeping our community safe."
"We hope you continue the dedication towards that. . . We really don't want any other families to have to suffer the pain and despair that we're going through right now. So keep it up, and we appreciate you. Happy Thanksgiving."
Abraham wasn't the only one to lose a child.
"Agnes Gibboney, whose son Ronald Da Silva was murdered by an illegal immigrant in California in 2002, thanked Trump for his "courage, strength, determination, and love for our country."
"Thank you and your administration for securing our borders and deporting criminal illegal aliens and for keeping Americans safe," Gibboney said."
And there is where we find the missed opportunity.
Closing the border and deporting "criminal illegal aliens" is only part of the solution.
The Angel Family's children weren't killed by an illegal as he crossed the border and neither illegal was necessarily a "criminal" illegal prior to committing the crime.
The illegal immigrants who murdered their children were inside the country, past the border. The solution to preventing future crimes by all classes of illegal immigrants is the mass deportations we were promised by President Trump.
Mass deportations mean everyone.
The long and the short and the tall.
These Angel Families missed an opportunity by not thanking ICE, too, and urging Trump to deliver on his mass deportation promise.
As we've written before, America First means putting Americans first.
Doing that requires expelling all illegal foreigners.
The enemy media is full of sob stories regarding illegals, the Angel Families could have provided needed, important context.
We're also convinced the Angel Families should be front and center during the midterm campaign by the Republicans.
They, more than anyone else, personify the left wing Democratic Party preference for illegal immigrants over Americans.
The fact that Republicans have not made this winning issue the foundation of the midterm campaign causes us to wonder: Does the GOP represent Americans or its cheap labor donors?
