"Friends" star Lisa Kudrow has revealed that the entire cast of the '90s hit sitcom only met up once in the 17 years between the 2004 series finale and the 2021 "Friends: The Reunion."
"We'd only had dinner, the six of us, once before since the show ended," Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay in the NBC show, said on a Tuesday episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's "Dinner's on Me" podcast, according to Variety.
When the cast did finally get together "10 years" after "Friends" ended, it felt like Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc "didn't miss a beat."
"Just us at someone's house and [we] had dinner, and like, didn't miss a beat," Kudrow said.
In a separate interview for Dax Shepherd's "Armchair Expert" podcast this week, Kudrow admitted that their offscreen friendship did take some work.
"It was great, we really did get along," she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"That six-way relationship took some work and we did it," Kudrow continued, saying the group "worked hard at being friends" but that "talking things through" really helped.
"If someone said something or did something, it didn't get too big, because it was, 'Can I talk to you?' " she said.
Communication styles were a new concept to her, and she learned a lot from her co-stars.
"I had to learn to be, 'Can I talk to you about something?' because I never knew that was allowed," Kudrow said. "But I saw it modeled really well by Courteney and Jennifer and Matt. Respectful communication."
The 30th anniversary of "Friends" in September was marked by stars and crew celebrating Perry, who died on Oct. 28, 2023, from the effects of Ketamine. Kudrow shared that she has just begun rewatching the series for the first time after his death.
"He just was so funny," she said. "It was just this whole appreciation. I was like, 'I've got to watch all of them.' "
