Steven Spielberg's daughter Mikaela is creating a career in the movies, but probably not the type of movies most people would expect. The famed filmmaker's 23-year-old daughter has come out as a porn star.
She revealed the news to The U.S. Sun in an interview, stating that she has been self-producing solo porn videos for online platforms and hopes to also become an exotic dancer as soon as she can obtain a state stripper's license.
Mikaela said by doing so she is hoping to become financially independent.
"My main hope is just that I get somewhere lucrative enough to where I'm not tied down financially by things," she said.
"And then I can really start saying to people there's nothing wrong with me using my body in a way that feels comfortable to support myself."
Mikaela quickly added that her decision was not motivated by financial desperation.
"This is a positive, empowering choice, I realized there is no shame in having a fascination with this industry and wanting to do something that is safe, sane, consensual," she said.
Mikaela, who was adopted by Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw when she was a baby, announced the news to them over the weekend via FaceTime. They took it well, being "intrigued" rather than "upset."
Their reaction may have been because Mikaela says she has "always been a very sexually natured person" and comfortable with her own sexuality.
The self-proclaimed "sexual creature" admitted it often got her into trouble as a teen.
"Not in a predatory way, but just in the sense that people here in the South might not yet be comfortable with that," she explained, adding that it grew tiring working "day to day in a way that wasn't satisfying my soul."
Starring in X-rated videos was more rewarding to her.
"I feel like doing this kind of work, I'm able to 'satisfy' other people, but that feels good because it's not in a way that makes me feel violated," she said.
Mikaela insisted she would not "do anything outside of solo stuff" because it felt like a violation of her boundaries. She is hoping that her parents will accept her new chosen profession.
"I'm doing this, not out of an urge to hurt anybody or be spiteful about it, I'm doing this because I want to honor my body in a way that's lucrative," she said.
"I actually think that once they see how far I've come from the bottom I was at a year and a half ago, they're going to look at this and go, 'Wow, we actually raised a really self-assured, young lady."
