President Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, which, had common sense prevailed, would never have been necessary.
He signed the "Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports" in the White House’s East Room, which was filled to capacity with lawmakers, state governors and attorneys general, and female athletes of all ages.
"With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over," Trump announced to thunderous cheers and applause.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., posted a short clip of the signing, and added his own thoughts.
"Men have NO place in women’s sports," the Louisiana Republican said.
"President Trump’s Executive Order puts an end to the unfair and dangerous practice of allowing biological men to compete against women," Johnson added.
"Common sense is back in the White House
But as the witnesses to the signing cheered, leftists wailed — none louder than Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The Texas Democrat claimed that by signing the order, Trump was:
- Banning trans kids from playing sports
- Trying to cut Title IX women’s and girls’ athletics grants
- Removing references to women, female & equality on government websites
She concluded, "LET ME BE CLEAR: This. Doesn't. Protect. Women."
Rapid Response 47, the official rapid response Twitter/X account of the Trump White House, replied 24 minutes later.
"Jasmine wants a dude to be able to steal your daughter’s trophy — and then allow him to undress next to her in the locker room for good measure," they responded. “What is wrong with her???”
Good question — especially for a politician who presumably wants to keep her job serving the people of a deep, red state like Texas.
A recent New York Times/Ipsos poll found that 79% of the 2,128 people surveyed opposed biological males who identify as women participating in women’s sports.
Two-thirds of the 1,025 respondents identifying as Democrats were also opposed.
What’s more important is that the percentage of Americans opposed to men competing in women’s sports is trending upward.
CNN reported yesterday that in 2021, 62% of Americans surveyed were opposed to biological males participating in female sports.
And it’s the left’s rejection of common sense and the will of the people that’s turning voters away from the Democrat Party and to the GOP.
In mid-2022, PBS reported that more than one million voters changed their affiliation to the Republican Party. Last month The Hill reported that the GOP holds a slight edge over Democrats in numbers.
The folly of transgender sports should be common sense, which makes one wonder what’s up with the people who still cling to the belief that it’s OK for males to compete against females in sports.
Do they not understand basic biology? Are they so committed to their woke ideology that they refuse to see things any other way?
Or maybe they never watched Fred Rogers’ educational children’s program, “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood” growing up.
In 1971 he sang a ditty he called "Everybody’s Fancy."
"Boys are boys from the beginning — If you were born a boy, you stay a boy,” he sang. “Girls are girls right from the start — if you were born a girl you stay a girl, and grow up to be a lady."
Rogers added, “Only girls can be the mommies; only boys can be the daddies.”
Or maybe they did watch it, and it went right over their pointy little heads.
Whatever the reason, they should understand that while competition generally leads to excellence it only does so if the competition is fair.
Competition in business through capitalism offers consumers better products at lower prices. Competition in education through school choice leads to more qualified, better educated students.
And fair competition in sports creates better, all-around athletes, who are better prepared to compete through9ut life.
Democrats admonish us to "protect democracy" and "follow the science" — until it clashes with their woke ideology — like males competing against females in sports.
If they want to win elections, they should take their own advice and follow the science and listen to the 79% of their voters.
But if they don’t that’s fine too.
