Trump’s Personality and a Bounty Appear to Be Repelling Illegal Immigrants
Do you get the feeling Donald Trump is already president, even though he has yet to be sworn into office as the nation's 47th commander in chief? Illegal immigrants are getting that feeling, as well, and because of it, they are turning around and going home.
Fox News has details — although we must warn you for some reason Fox, the "conservative" news outlet, has seemingly adopted the left’s language and its calling those here illegally, "migrants" — "A growing number of migrants are weighing returning home rather than facing the consequences of President- elect Trump's planned border policies, according to a new report.
"Mexican officials say between 50 and 100 migrants are now requesting 'voluntary return' to their own countries, with migrants either covering their own costs or relying on state funds. Some migrants credit their apprehension to Trump's plans to eliminate a U.S. government app used to claim asylum with border agents."
Now we’ll be the first to admit that 100 illegals making a U-turn and heading home is a drop in the bucket.
What we’re hoping is this will be the first in a growing wave of illegals deciding Uncle Sam is no longer "Uncle Sucker."
If the government freebies aren’t waiting for the illegals once they sneak over the border and enforcement is looking increasingly harsh, staying home doesn’t look so bad after all.
Things are different in the U.S. as border enforcement seems to be catching on in the wake of Trump’s victory.
A Missouri legislator, Rep. David Gregory, R-Dist. 96, has filed a bill that is causing concern in the illegal immigrant community.
That's putting it mildly.
The Daily Mail has this story, "A Missouri lawmaker has introduced a controversial bill that would establish a bounty hunter program to turn in undocumented immigrants.
"Senate Bill 72, sponsored by Representative David Gregory, aims to incentivize Missourians to identify and detain individuals believed to be in the state illegally. The bill proposes a $1,000 reward for each undocumented immigrant apprehended."
The bill also has provisions to make life difficult for the illegals who have not been caught by the volunteer bounty hunters' dragnet. "It also outlines measures to restrict the rights of undocumented individuals, such as being 'prohibited from voting in any election, receiving any permit or license to drive, receive any public benefit, and becoming a legal resident of this state.'"
Frankly, we think Rep. Gregory could get just as much interest from citizens at $500 a head for illegal immigrants, but we have no problem with his bill.
In fact, we hope other states follow his lead. We think receiving a bounty for turning in illegals is the definition of "doing well by doing good."
Now you may be skeptical of Rep. Gregory’s effort, but we want you to give it a chance.
Besides the illegal immigrant lobby is outraged. "Javad Khazalei, an immigration and civil rights attorney, said the proposal is 'incredibly dangerous,' situation, drawing parallels to historical instances of persecution.'"
That’s proof Gregory’s idea is going to be wildly successful.
Now if only other red states would follow his ground-breaking leadership!
